Motorcycle Euro (5) + emissions implementedEuro V Phase V (Euro V) is a European regulation for vehicle emission standards. This standard specifies emission standards for engine vehicles to control pollutants emitted by motor vehicles, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, unsaturated hydrocarbons (HC), and particulate matter, among others. The implementation of Euro 5 has placed higher demands on emission standards for motorcycles and other light-engine vehicles.
Euro 5 is divided into two phases, the first of which was established in 2020 and stipulates limits for emission Type I and Type IV experiments. In the first stage, there are different requirements for OBD, first of all, between 2020 and 2024, the on-board diagnostic instrument OBD I adopts the category of EU 4 OTL, and for the on-board diagnosis OBD II, it can be diagnosed without a catalytic converter, and the detection frequency is not required; However, after January 1, 2024, the requirement to use EU5 OTL for on-board diagnostic OBD I will be accompanied by a catalytic converter diagnostics along with on-board diagnostic OBD II, and the detection frequency will be limited. This makes it more cumbersome for motorcycles to certify their emissions.
This regulation is mandatory for motorcycles and light-engine vehicles sold in the European market. EU member states offer licences for sale of Euro V compliant motor vehicles in the domestic market. Motorcycle manufacturers need to ensure that their products meet these requirements, often by improving the engine and emissions control systems.
It is important to keep in mind that as regulations are subject to change, it is recommended that you check with the relevant government agency or professional consulting body to stay up-to-date on the reports and requirements before making important decisions. |
